Wurtz-like condensation products in the reaction of 2,3-dibromo-6,7-benzobicyclo[3.2.1]octa-3,6-diene

Özet

Reaction of 2,3-dibromo-6,7-benzobicyclo[3.2.1]octa-3,6-diene (7) with zinc in DMSO resulted in the formation of two isomeric Wurtz-like condensation products 8 and 9 whose structural assignments were made on the basis of H-1-, C-13-NMR spectral data and mass spectra. Monobromide 1, exo alcohol 10 and the secondary products ketones 11 and 12, have also been isolated from this reaction and the formation mechanism of the products was discussed.
