Özet

Aim: This research was conducted to test the validity and reliability of the AIDS Attitude Scale in the nursing students in Turkey. Methods: This research was planned both descriptively and methodologically. The study was carried out with 230 nurses who were educated in Atatürk University Faculty of Nursing in 2019-2020. Data were collected using the Descriptive Information Form containing the socio-demographic characteristics of the students and the AIDS Attitude Scale. Percentage, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) ve Barlett’s tests, correlation analysis, Cronbach’s alpha value and factor analysis were used to evaluate the data. Results: The KMO value,85 and Barlett’s test X2= 2400,443 (p = 0,000) was found. The scale included 21 items and a two-factor structure, Avoidance and Empathy. The Cronbach alpha coefficient of the avoidance sub-dimension was,87 and the Cronbach alpha coefficient of the Empathy sub-dimension was,88. The test-retest reliability values of the sub-dimensions were,85 and,86, respectively. Conclusion: As a result of this research, Turkish version of AIDS Attitude Scale was found to be valid and reliable for nursing students. This measurement tool can be used to determine the attitudes of health professionals towards individuals with AIDS.
