Üzerinde yaşanılan dünyada siyasal bakımdan sınırları birbirinden ayrılmış ülkeler mevcuttur. Bu ülkeler fiziki (yeryüzü şekilleri, iklim, bitki örtüsü, hidrografya vb.), beşeri (nüfus özellikleri, yerleşme özellikleri, kültürel özellikleri vb.) ve siyasi (yönetim şekli, ülkeler arası ilişkiler vb.) özellikleri yönüyle de birbirinden farklı özellikler gösterebilmektedirler. Ana konusu ülkeler ve bu ülkeler arasındaki ilişkiler ile milletlerarası siyasi, ekonomik örgütlenmeler olan ülkeler coğrafyası dersinde, öğrencilerin bu özellikleri en iyi şekilde öğrenmeleri, üzerinde yaşadığı dünyayı ve ülkeleri en iyi şekilde tanımaları, öğrendikleri bu bilgileri kullanarak çeşitli çıkarım yapmaları önemlidir. Bunun için aktif öğretim teknikleri kullanılarak öğrencilerde kalıcı öğrenmenin gerçekleştirilmesi ve öğrencilerin bu öğrendiklerini yaşamlarında kullanabilmeleri gereklidir. Öğrenme ortamı olan sınıfta, akademik başarı ve kalıcı öğrenmenin gerçekleştirilmesi için ülkeler coğrafyası dersinde uygulanabilecek aktif öğretim tekniklerinden birisi de misafir konuşmacı destekli öğretim tekniğidir.

Ülkeler coğrafyası dersinde misafir konuşmacı destekli öğretim tekniği uygulanmak istendiğinde misafir konuşmacının seçimi ve bu tekniğin uygulanması sırasında dikkat edilmesi gereken hususlar mevcuttur. Seçilecek misafir konuşmacının eğitim seviyesinin öğrencilerle eşdeğer ya da daha üst seviyede olması, misafir konuşmacının çağrıldığı derste işlenilen ülkenin vatandaşı olup en az lise eğitimini bitirene kadar ülkesinde yaşamış olması önemli husustur. Ayrıca misafir konuşmacı seçimini bizzat öğretmen yaparak, onunla birebir görüşmesi, misafir konuşmacının sosyal ve kişisel iletişim özelliklerinin dersin kazanımlarının gerçekleşmesine yeterli düzeyde olup olmadığına kanaat getirmelidir. Misafir konuşmacıya davet aşamasında dersin bulunduğu sınıfın düzeyi, yaş grubu, dersin süresi ve ders esnasında neler yapılacağı ile ilgili bilgilerin verilmesi gereklidir. Öğretmen derste yapılacak olan tüm etkinlikleri misafir konuşmacıyla birlikte ders öncesinde planlamalıdır. Misafir konuşmacı derse ülkesinin özelliklerini yansıtacak şekildeki kılık kıyafetle gelmeli ve kişisel deneyimlerini en iyi şekilde derste öğrencilere aktarabilmeli, etkili sunum yapabilmeli, sunumu sırasında dersin hedeflerinin dışına çıkmamalı, sunumunu görsel öğelerle çeşitlendirebilmeli, öğrencilerin sorularını açık ve anlaşılır şekilde cevaplayabilmeli, dersin hedeflerini gerçekleştirebilecek ipuçlarını öğrencilerle paylaşabilmelidir. Öğrencilerde misafir konuşmacıya öğretmene gösterdikleri saygıyı göstermeli ve misafir konuşmacının sınıfta kendini yabancı hissetmemesini sağlamaları gereklidir. Misafir konuşmacı destekli öğretim tekniği sayesinde öğrenciler kitabi bilgilerin dışında gerçek dünyadaki canlı bir örnekle karşılaşmış ve akıllarındaki soruları bizzat o ülke ile tecrübeleri olan kişiye sorarak birinci ağızdan cevapları öğrenmiş olacaklardır. Bu yönüyle misafir konuşmacı destekli öğretim tekniği ülkeler coğrafyası dersinin kazanımlarının gerçekleşmesi için öğrencileri aktif kılıp, öğrenmeyi kalıcı hale getiren ve öğrencilerin derse hevesle gelmesini sağlayarak, ideal bir öğrenme ortamının ortaya çıkmasını sağlayan aktif bir öğretim tekniğidir.

Bu çalışmada, misafir konuşmacı destekli öğretim tekniği kapsamlı olarak ele alınmış, ülkeler coğrafyası dersinde uygulanmasının önemi ortaya konmuştur. Ayrıca misafir konuşmacı destekli öğretim tekniği ile işlenebilecek örnek bir ders örneği de verilmiştir.

There are countries on the earth that they were separated with borders from each other. These countries may have different features in terms of their physical (land forms, climate, vegetation cover, hydrography), humanistic (population, habitation, and cultural characteristics), and political (regime, transnational relations) features. In the geography of countries course, which includes countries, relations of these countries, and international political, economic organizations as the main object, it is important for students to learn these features, recognize the earth and countries in the best way and to use this information and make generalizations. For this it is necessary to provide permanent learning for students use active teaching method and help them use these learning in their live by using active teaching methods. For providing academic achievement and permanent learning in the learning environment, one of the active teaching techniques that can be used in geography of countries course is guest speaker aided instruction technique.

There are some aspects that must be taken into consideration during choosing guest speaker and using this technique if we want to use guest speaker aided instruction technique in the geography of countries course. The chosen guest speaker must be at the same education level with the students, or higher than them. He or she must be a citizen of mentioned country in the course and should be stayed at least until finishing high school in the mentioned country. Also the teacher must be select the guest speaker in person and decide if the guest speaker’s social and personal communication skills are adequate for the courses learning outcomes. The guest speaker must be informed about the class level, age group, length of the lesson, and what will happen in the lesson at the invitation step of guest speaker. The teacher must plan the all course activities with the guest speaker before the lesson. The guest speaker must come to the class with his or her country’s wear for reflecting the countries characteristics, must reflect the personal experiences to students in a best way, must make an effective presentation, must not exceed the course objectives during the presentation, must enrich the presentation with visual aids, must answer students’ questions clearly, and must share clues that are for accomplishing the course objectives. And students should show respect to the guest speaker same as they show their teacher. They must make the guest speaker feel comfortable in their class. With the guest speaker aided instruction technique, students will gain information not only from books but also from live samples from the real word and ask their questions directly the person from the country they want to learn about. With this aspect the guest speaker aided instruction technique is an efficient learning technique that makes students active and learning permanent, provides enthusiasm for students and an ideal learning environment.

In this study the guest speaker aided instruction technique was dealt with comprehensively and its importance in implementing geography course is put forward. Besides, a lesson sample was given that could be taught with the guest speaker aided instruction technique.
