Özet

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is among the major staple crops, with about 720 million tons being produced globally. Mammalian sex hormones have effects on various physiological systems in plants. However, there has not been adequate studies about the impact of different sex hormones on the wheat seedling parameters. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of mammalian sex hormones and their concentration on seedling growth parameters. This research was carried out by randomized complete design in three replications. Seeds of cultivar “Kirik” were used as the plant material. Sterilized wheat seeds were tested with four mammalian sex hormones with (17 β estradiol, progesterone, testosterone and estrogen) 4 different concentrations [(0 control (pure water), 5 × 10-4 5 × 10-5, 5 × 10-6 mM)]. Data for the root number (RN), root length (RL), root fresh weight (RFW), coleoptil length (CL), shoot length (SL) and shoot fresh weight (SFW) were obtained. As a result, effect of different mammalian sex hormones on the traits examined were significant in all parameters (P <0.01). Effect of different concentration on the traits were significant in CL, SL, RFW and SFW (P <0.01) and RL (P <0.05). Effect of their interactions on the traits were significant in RL, CL, RFW and SFW (P <0.01) and SL (P <0.05). The highest RN, RL, RFW, CL, SL, SFW and SEL were obtained testosterone control (4.90), estrogen 5 × 10-5 (15.59 cm), testosterone 5 × 10-6 (0.3333 g), testosterone 5 × 10-5 (3.26 cm), estrogen 5 × 10-5 (17.0 cm), estrogen 5 × 10-5 (0.5588 g) and estrogen 5 × 10-5 (32.58 cm).
