Özet

Latin America is composed of several large countries established in between the Lands of Fire, located in the southernmost, and Rio Bravo city of Mexico, located in the northernmost. These countries include Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, and Brazil (Rosales and Carmona, 2009:171). The subject of the study “Local Governments in Unitary and Federal States: A Study on Latin American Countries” is to examine local governments of four Latin American
countries selected based on population and surface area. Two of these countries(Colombia and Peru) are unitary states and the other two (Brazil and Mexico) are federal states.
