Abstract:Aim: This research was conducted to evaluate the effect of pregnant women's decision-making styles on prenatal attachment. Material and Method: This research was conducted as a descriptive type. The research was conducted with 350 pregnant women who met the research criteria between October 26, 2023 and December 31, 2023 at Erzurum City Hospital Gynecology and Obstetrics Polyclinics. Research data were collected using the "Personal Information Form", "Melbourne Decision Making Styles Scale-II (MDMS-II)" and "Prenatal Attachment Inventory (PAI)". Number, percentage, mean, t test in independent groups, analysis of variance (LSD and Dunnet C in further analysis), Pearson correlation analysis, t test, Mann Whitney U analysis, Kruskal Wallis analysis and Spearman correlation analysis were used to evaluate the data. Results: There is a statistically significant, positive and low-level relationship between the PAI score and the careful decision-making sub-dimension score (p<0.05). There is a statistically significant, negative and low-level relationship between the PAI score and the avoidant decision-making sub-dimension scores (p<0.05). As the PAI score increases, the careful decision-making sub-dimension score also increases, and the avoidant decision-making sub-dimension score decreases. Conclusion: It was determined that the decision-making styles of the pregnant women were low, but their prenatal attachment levels were good. As the PAI score increased, the careful decision-making sub-dimension score also increased, and the avoidant decision-making sub-dimension score decreased.
