Abstract:
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of dry cupping therapy on oxygen saturation so that athletes can have a faster recovery process. Method: Quantitative research methods are used in the research. 20 active female handball players were included in the research. It was divided into two: research group (10) and control group (10) (experimental research). While dry cupping therapy was applied to the research group after isokinetic muscle strength measurement (Isomed 2000), passive rest was provided after the isokinetic muscle strength test in the control group and dry cupping therapy was not performed. Oxygen saturation measurements; It was measured with the MOXY device before the test, during the test and during dry cupping therapy application. Findings: A significant difference was found between the groups in the instantaneous oxygen saturation average values during cupping therapy and passive rest (p=0.033, p<0.05). A significant difference was found between the groups in the mean oxygen saturation values during cupping therapy and passive rest (p=0.034, p<0.05). A statistically significant difference was found between the percentage difference value of instantaneous oxygen saturation (San) during loading (Yesnas) - dry cupping therapy (San/kupa) and the percentage difference values of instantaneous oxygen saturation during loading (Yesnası) - passive rest (San/pasif) (p =0.040, p<0.05). No significant difference was found between other parameters. Result: It was determined that the application of dry cupping therapy in the research group produced significantly different results than the control group. Dry cupping therapy provided a positive increase in SmO2 value compared to the control group. However, there was no significant change in THb value. Although the dry cupping therapy applied to the research group and the passive rest applied to the control group were applied for the same period of time after the loading, the oxygen saturation of the dry cupping therapy group increased more.
