Comparison of target shot hitting of elite biathlon athletes according to pulse interval

Abstract:
In this study it is aimed to make comparison of target shot hitting success while athletes have resting pulse and different volumes of pulse intervals. Material and Method: The target population of the study is biathlon athletes and research sample is Turkish Skiing Federation Biathlon National team athletes. Fourteen (eight males and six females) elite biathlon athletes voluntarily participated in the study. After running 2.5 km with skike at 50%, 70% and 100% volumes, athletes made total 20 shots (5 shots four times). Exercise volume was determined by Polar M400 GPS running watch. Data obtained from the participants was analysed by using IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0 software program with doing some statistical variations by transferring data to the electronic environment. Findings: When the difference status according to the body composition of the athletes in the experimental group were considered, it was determined that there was a significant difference in all variances. It was also determined that there was a significant difference between pulse rate and maximum speed variances. A significant difference was found in all variances when target shot hitting success in measurements were compared. It was seen that when exercise volume increased target shot hitting success decreased and this supported our hypothesis. When 50% dependent variable of incidence and 50% independent variable of heart beating were considered, it was determined that each one unit increase in 50 % heart beating decreased target shot hitting on -0,021 level. Result: It was found out that shooting performance made while athletes had resting pulse was more successful than shooting performance at other volumes and when the pulse rate increased success rate of shooting decreased. It was observed that hitting performance decreases during general preparation period but increases during special preparation period. It can be said that the reason of this is doing more exercises for hitting during this period. It can also be said that maximum heart beat speed in measurements which were done on the snow was significantly more than the ones which were done in the practices on the roller ski. It can be said that the reason of this is athletes raised their performance level to the maximum levels during special training period.
