Abstract:

Aim: This research was conducted to examine the relationship between pregnant women's decision-making styles and pregnancy acceptance. Material and method: The sample of the descriptive study consisted of 600 pregnant women who were volunteers and met the research criteria, who applied to Erzurum City Hospital Gynecology and Obstetrics Polyclinics between 01.12.2022 and 30.04.2023. Data were collected using the "Personal Information Form", "Melbourne Decision Making Styles Scale-II (MKVÖ-II)" and "Pregnancy Acceptance Sub-Dimension of the Prenatal Self-Assessment Scale". Number, percentage, mean, parametric (t-test and anova), non-parametric tests (Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U Analysis) and Pearson correlation analysis were used to evaluate the data. Results: It was determined that there was a negative significant relationship between the careful decision-making sub-dimension of the MKVÖ-II scale and the total score of the acceptance of pregnancy sub-dimension, while the avoidant decision-making, procrastinatory decision-making, panic decision-making sub-dimensions of the MKVÖ-II scale and the acceptance of pregnancy sub-dimension with the total score of the scale. It was determined that there was a positive significant relationship between the dimension total score. Conclusion: It has been determined that there is an inverse relationship between pregnant women using a careful decision-making style and acceptance of pregnancy. It has been found that pregnant women who make careful decisions in line with this relationship accept the pregnancy more easily. In line with the parallelism between the other sub-dimensions of the MKVÖ-II scale and the scale total score, it was determined that the pregnancy acceptance of pregnant women using these sub-dimensions was weaker.
