Abstract:

Social and cultural representations are highly influential in people's life. One of the most important tools in the production of these representations today is media. It is claimed that cinema's influence in the media has long-lasting effects in the context of cultural representations. Due to the effect of this feature of cinema, in comedy films of Turkish cinemas, we studied the representations of the imam's who are one of the most important members of our religious life and seen as a respectable profession by society. Then we compared and revealed the differences between the real imams' and the representations in the films.
