Abstract:

Purpose: It was aimed to compare the isokinetic strength, explosive power and sprint times of professional football players in different leagues before the season and to determine the parameter affecting the sprint time. Method: A total of 53 active football players competing in the TFF 1st League (L1, n: 26) and the TFF 2nd League (L2, n: 27) participated in the study. Acute effects were examined in the measurements. Leg muscle strength measurements were measured using the Iso Med 2000® (Germany) device. The test began with the dominant leg and five repetitions were performed at a speed of 60°/sec. The players' speed tests (10m and 20m) were determined using an Optojump (Microgate-Italy) photocell device. In the vertical jump (explosive power) test, an Optojump (Microgate-Italy) brand device was used. In both tests, two repetitions were performed after complete rest, and the best result was recorded. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 program and significance levels were set at p<0.05. Findings: In leg strength, no significant difference was found between the L1 and L2 peak torque and relative torque values for the left leg (flexion) and right leg (extension). However, the relative torque, right leg flexion, and left leg extension values were significantly higher in L1 players. Regarding the right-left leg strength difference, L1 flexion and ex were significantly higher than L2, while there was no significant difference in H/Q values. In explosive power, L2 players had significantly higher values than L1 players. Sprint time was found to be better in L2 than L1. Results: L2 players had significantly better explosive power and sprint times than L1 players. While some muscle strength parameters were significantly different in favor of L1, no differences were found between the groups in terms of H/Q ratios.
