Abstract:

Aim: The study examine the relationship between psychosocial health status of pregnant women and prenatal attachment and the factors influencing it. Material and Method: The study was carried out with 305 pregnant women who applied to the polyclinics of Nenehatun Maternity Hospital in Erzurum between September 2014 and May 2015 and voluntary to participate in the study and met the inclusion criteria. The data were collected by using the personal information form, the Pregnancy Psychosocial Health Assessment Scale and Prenatal Attachment Inventory. The data were assessed by using descriptive statistics, Reliability test, t-test, One-Way Analysis of Variance, Kruskall Wallis, Mann Whitney-U and Pearson Correlation Analysis. Results: The average total score received of pregnant women was found 56.97±11.58 from PAI and 4.15±0.40 from PPHAS. Pregnant woman's and her husband's education status (p=0.001), duration of marriage, number of pregnancies, number of living children, abortion history, status of go to regular control, status of pregnant woman and husband to intent the pregnancy (p=0.000), number of stillbirths (p=0.013) and gender of infant (p=0.002) affected the level of prenatal attachment. When examined the relationship between the mean scores of PPHAS and PAI; it was determined statistically significant positive correlation between psychosocial health status psychosocial health status of pregnant women and prenatal attachment (p=0.000, r=0.307). Conclusion: According to the total mean scores obtained by pregnant women from PPHAS and PAI, it was found that they had a good level of psychosocial health condition and a moderate level of prenatal attachment. Psychosocial health of pregnant women, as the level increases, it is found that the level of prenatal attachment is also increased.
