Abstract:
Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the restriction, which was officially applied throughout the country during the Covid-19 pandemic, on individuals who exercise regularly. Method: Forty-nine healthy male individuals with an average age of 28.75±8.98 years and an average height of 178.00±6.51 cm participated in the study. The research group was formed from individuals who exercise in a special sports center located in the city center of Erzurum and whose development is monitored regularly. Four different measurement periods of individuals were determined to make comparisons. These are before the announcement of the Covid-19 pandemic by the World Health Organization (1.), 6 months before the pandemic restriction process implemented in our country (2.), immediately after the restriction period (3.) and start exercising again after restriction (4.) refers to the period. In the analysis of the data, SPSS v26 package program was used and the significance level was taken as p<0.05. Results: According to the statistical comparisons of physical and physiological values in the determined periods, there were negative significant changes in body weight, body fat weight and ratio, body mass indices and metabolism ages of individuals during the quarantine period (p<0.05). After the end of quarantine and the resumption of exercise; positive significant changes in body fluid, lean body weight, skeletal November weight and basal metabolic rate were observed (p<0.05). Conclusion: The results obtained showed that restriction negatively affects the gains obtained with exercise. It has been found that there are positive improvements in the physical and physiological conditions of individuals when they start playing sports again with the lifting of restrictions. According to these results, the physical and physiological values of individuals of practices such as quarantine, where physical activity is restricted, were negatively affected.
