Abstract:

The aim of the this study is to investigate the perceptions of nepotism and chronism of academicians working in academic institutions that provide sports education in universities and not spotrs education in terms of different variables. The universe of research consists of 347 (sample group) people, 95 of whom are females and 252 of them males who are academicians that lecture in Atatürk, Ardahan, İbrahim Çeçen, Fırat, Binali Yıldırım, Kafkas, İnönü, Alparslan, Iğdır Üniversitesi ve Yüzüncü yıl univesrsities that are in East Anatolıon region. The study consisted of 14 closed-ended 5- point Lİkert-type expressions adapted by Ford and McLaughin (1985) and Abdalla (1998) to measure nepotism senses of those working as date collection tools; in the promotion, nepotism, process nepotism and nepotism dimensions were used in questionnaire '' Algılanan Örgütsel Kronizm'' scale developed by Turhan (2013) was used to determine the senses of chronism. It was determined by Turhan (2013) that the scale consisting of three dimensions and 15 items had sufficient psychometric properties. The first dimension of this the scale was '' Internal group bias'' expressing the manager's bias towards the employees whom he feels close to hım for any reason, the second dimension was paternal chronism expressing the loyal ty-favoritism relationship between the manage and the employee and the third dimension was the mutual interest expressing the interest-based relations between the manager and the employee. In the evaluation of the obtained data, SPSS 22 statistic package program was used. Frequency analysis was used to find out the demographic characteristics of the participants, Skewness and Kurtosis testing to determine normal distribution suitability of scales, descriptive statsitics were used to find general averages; t-test was used to in independent groups in order to compare the sub-dimensions of chronism and nepotism according to gender, marital status and faculties; one-way analysis of variana was used to compare age, university, education level, income level, wrking time and positions in the institution, in order to find the relationship between sub-dimensions, Pearson correlation test used and (p<0.05) was taken as reference.
