Abstract:

Aim: This study was carried out to develop a comprehensive measurement tool that can be used to determine mothers' trauma perception for regarding delivery. Method: Is a methodological research. The data of the study were collected in the maternity and children's hospital and in family health centers from May 2019 to September 2019. For the validity of the scale, content validity, construct validity and concurrent validity were evaluated. For the reliability of the scale, item analyses, internal consistency and time invariance were evaluated. Results: This study determined that the face validity of the scale was achieved, and the content validity index was found to be 0.83. The KMO value of the scale for the exploratory factor analysis was 0.85, and the Bartlett's test results were x2=9211.281, p=0.000. The goodness of fit index value was 0.90 for the confirmatory factor analysis, the comparative fit index value was 0.90, the root mean square error of approximation value was 0.07. These results confirmed the construct of the scale, so the scale was finalized with 39 items and one subscale. The Cronbach's alpha value of the scale is 0.92. The item-total correlation values range from 0.25 to 0.73, and the test-retest analysis values are r=0.831, p=0.000. The women's scale score was 110.10±27.94. Conclusion: This study developed the 5-point Likert-type valid and reliable Trauma Perception Scale for Regarding Delivery. It has one subscale and 39 items that measure women's trauma perception for regarding delivery. The Cronbach's α internal consistency coefficient, item-total correlation and test-retest analysis had high correlations. It has been determined that the measuring tool is a valid and reliable tool in measuring the perception of traumatic birth. This scale can be used to determine women susceptible to trauma from the first postpartum month to a year later. Keywords: Delivery, midwives, scale, trauma perception, vaginal delivery, women
