Abstract:

Reading habit is that aperson's pursueing his reading practice in a specific order continuously and critally. İn revealing this process to perceive reading as a pleasure element and necessity takes an active port. Either in installing or in developing, it's an undeniable truth thet the reading habit, which consists personal and socil effects, has a contribution to the students personal development. The attitude towards Turkish lesson which is analysed in the research comes into the picture in students languge based acpuisition such as sociability and expressing themselves. It's acclaimed that there is a relationship between the attitude toward Turkish lesson and having an active and effective role in social life. Reading habit provides person to have high-level abilities such as being critical, objectivity, consistency and social affair sensibility by affecting student's attitude towards Turkish lesson. The aim of this research includes the reading habits and the attitudes towards Turkish lesson of 8th grade secondary students is both to express the dimensions of reading habits and to specify affecting borders of this habit to Turkish lesson. To obtain data "Attitude scale towards Turkish" and "Reading Habit attitude scale" were applied to 213 students of Oltu Secondary School Cumhuriyet Secondary School, İMKB Boarding Secondary School, Mehmet Akif Ersoy Secondary School and Karabekir Secondary School in Oltu, Erzurum. The relationship between reading habit divension and the attitude towards Turkish dimension of the research is revealed by commenting on the obtained data.
