Abstract:
Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the attention and reaction levels of athletes in different branches. Method: In the research, scanning technique, one of the quantitative research methods, was used.Research participants consist of 55 athletes from team sports, combat sports and winter sports. The composition of the athletes, body (Tanita TBF 300), reaction (Witty Sem) and attention levels (D2 attention test) were measured. The obtained data were analyzed with SPSS 26 package program. Findings: There are significant differences between branches in terms of psychomotor speed and grip speed test performance in the D2 attention test. The best result was determined in the football branch, and the weakest in the basketball branch. No significant difference was found in terms of selective attention, attention error, concentration performance, continuity of attention and total time. In the reaction test, no significant difference was found between branches in terms of reaction times (total, contact and average time). There is a significant difference between branches in body composition values and basal metabolism rates. The highest kickboxing and the lowest branch belong to volleyball athletes. A significant difference was found between branches in body fat ratios and it was determined that the highest fat ratio was in volleyball and the lowest in ski jumping athletes. There was a significant difference between branches in lean body mass. Kickboxers have the highest value, while volleyball athletes have the lowest. Combat sports have significantly better value than team sports. Result: It is seen that basketball branch is very weak compared to other sports in terms of psychomotor speed, grip speed and test performance. The effects of combat and outdoor sports on fat ratio, lean body mass and total body fluid are better than team sports. We can say that especially football and kickboxing athletes have better values than volleyball and basketball players.
