Proje Özeti

This social awareness project, carried out as a presentation-based event at a nearby secondary school, is a concrete example of university-community collaboration, with the voluntary participation of students from the Medical Laboratory Technician program at Hınıs Vocational School, which offers associate degree-level education. Within the scope of the event, it made a strategic contribution to protecting public health by raising social awareness about zoonotic diseases transmitted from animals to humans within the framework of the “One Health” approach. Tick-borne diseases and biological risk factors encountered in livestock activities, especially in rural areas, were analyzed in detail through scientific presentations and interactive sessions with the participation of experts. Information materials prepared with the active participation of student volunteers facilitated the socialization of knowledge by translating scientific data into concrete guidelines that the local community could understand. As a result, the activity has established a sustainable education model for preventing potential public health crises by reinforcing individual and collective responsibility awareness. This study, which combines academic knowledge with social awareness, has been successfully completed as an exemplary educational activity that evaluates traditional knowledge in the light of modern science. This project was supported by Atatürk University Social Awareness Projects.
