Proje Özeti
This social awareness project, which was carried out with the voluntary participation of Pharmacy Technician students from Hınıs Vocational School, which offers associate degree-level education, was implemented as a presentation-based event at a nearby secondary school. This event served as a concrete example of university-community collaboration. In the context of the event, the distinctions between conventional herbal treatment methodologies and contemporary, scientific phytotherapy practices were addressed in a manner commensurate with the students' level of understanding, employing comprehensible scientific frameworks. The presentations made it clear that there are risks associated with the uninformed use of herbal products, and they specifically noted that phytotherapeutic practices must be carried out under the supervision of a physician.
During the course of the project, Vocational School students were presented with the opportunity to share their academic knowledge with the community and to gain an awareness of social responsibility. The active involvement of secondary school students, the questions posed, and the feedback received indicated that the project resonated with its target audience and achieved its objective. This study, which combines academic knowledge with social awareness, has been completed as an exemplary educational activity that evaluates traditional knowledge in the light of modern science.
