Özet

The first bisdihydroxylation of dicyclopentadiene (3) with OsO4-NMO gave the exo-tetrol 4a as a sole product in one step. The stereoselectivity in bisdihydroxylation of 3 has been determined by an X-ray diffraction analysis of the compound 4a and tetraacetate 4b.
