Özet

This paper aims to investigate the structure and mechanical properties between the surface and the center of AA 6063 alloy ingots obtained by direct casting into ingots, and to obtain a uniform workability by applying a homogenization treatment. Therefore, the ingots of 200 mm diameter were homogenized, and then the structure and mechanical properties of the samples taken from four different regions of the ingots between the surface and the center were determined using a torsion test, hardness test, optic microscopy Scanning Elecron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray Diffraction (XRD). The torsion tests after the homogenization treatment were carried out at a deformation temperature of 440degreesC with a strain rate of 2x10(-2) s(1). It was observed that the peak stress and the strain difference between the surface and the center decrease gradually with a homogenization treatment. The most uniform distribution of the samples between the surface and the center were obtained from a ingot cooled in a furnace from a homogenization temperature of 540degreesC and which underwent deformation at a deformation temperature of 440degreesC. The lowest peak stress and the highest fracture strain in this alloy were obtained from the ingots that were homogenized at a temperature of 470degreesC and then cooled in the furnace at a rate of 25degreesC/h..
