Özet

The aim of this study is to examine the traces of Nusairis in the 19th century, who live in and around Northern Syria under the sovereignty of Ottoman Empire, illustrated in the sources by British and American travelers, Orientalists, missionaries and researchers, and the ways of understanding and reflection of this society as well as the reasons of the close interest in them. The determination of the roots of Nusairis, their geographic region, their social life, belief system, religious festivals, as well as the efforts to relate them with the Christianity are several of the subjects in question. One of the other main purposes of this article is to investigate this unique society from various angles in order to provide knowledge about them.
