Although livestock has an important potential in Erzurum, return from cattle
fattening and productivity is very low. This study evaIuates the factors causing failures
of cattle fattening farms in Erzurum based on previous studies in different disciplines
and the survey data collected in this study. The main problem levels were determined by
using descriptive analysis to primarily data collected from research area in 2002 years.
According to the results of the study, factors affecting on the failure of cattle fattening
farms which were under investigation were overuse of labor, poor material quality, fattening period, which is lower for young animals but longer period for older animals, having low level of protein and energy in feeding material, primitive and non hygienic of
bams and lack of information on breeding techniques. The factors that affect the profitable cattle fattening negatively must be eliminated in order to have profitable cattle fattening.
