14th International Symposium on Apricot Breeding and Culture, Matera, İtalya, 16 - 20 Haziran 2008, cilt.862, ss.313-315
This study was carried out between 2000 and 2007 in Eastern Anatolia in Turkey to determine the effect of rootstocks on frost damage in apricot cvs. Kabaasi and Hacihaliloglu. The apricot cvs. Kabaasi and Hacihaliloglu were grafted onto plum (Prunus cerasifera) and apricot (Prunus armeniaca) cultivars (cvs. Sekerpare and Kabaasi) seedlings in 2000. In 2007 the temperature dropped to -2.8 degrees C 21 days after full blooming and frost damage occurred. The highest injury ratio was observed in Hacihaliloglu/plum combination as 96.31%, while the lowest injury was found in Kabaasi/Kabaasi combination (56.92%). These results suggested the use of both Kabaasi cultivar scion and rootstocks in colder areas in Turkey.
