The title azo-azomethine dye, C19H15N3O, was synthesized by the reaction of 2-hydroxy-5-[(E)-phenyldiazenyl]benzaldehyde with aniline. With respect to the azo double bond, the two attached benzene rings display a trans configuration with a C-N = N-C torsion angle of 178.5 (3)degrees. The structure is stabilized by intramolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot N and intermolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds.
