This study aims to determine socio-economic
structure of farms in forest villages in Ispir, and to analyze the factors
affecting annual income of farmers, their willingness to migrate and dependence
on forest sources. The main material of this study includes the survey data conducted
with 100 farms from 5 forest villages in Ispir district. Using the data
collected out of this survey, multi linear regression model with ordinary least
square estimation was estimated for total annual income and logistic regression
models with limited dependent variables was used to determine willingness to immigrate
of farmers and dependence on forest sources. According to the results of the
regression analyses, expanding of the animal production and fruit growing activities
opposed to crop production activity, improving general education
level of farmers, contribution of more family members to agricultural activities
could increase the income of farmers. A decrease in the willingness to
immigrate of farmers could reduce dependence on forest sources. Thus, rural
development possibilities could be increased by having young farmers to stay in
their hometown, and continue their agricultural activities.
