This article handles the origin of the names Kalikala-Erzen and the conquest history of Erzurum neighborhood by Muslims. Kalikala and Erzen were given as names to two different accommodation units at first, then to the same city in the advancing times. The confusion in this subject urges the researchers, who are related to this subject, to different assessments. The information given in the sources on Erzen of Erzurum and Erzen of Siirt can be used in place of each other from time to time and cause wrong assessments about the conquest history of Erzurum. Another misleading point is that the 'Ermenyakos' statement taking place in the sources is thought as a patriarch's name although it is a state's name.
