Özet
This article examines the role of architectural elements—oriel windows, towers, and balconies—in painting compositions, emphasizing their function within spatial hierarchies and their contribution to the production of visual meaning. This study analyzes these features as cultural signifiers that embody moral, religious, and political orientations. Within the pictorial space, these elements are perceived through hierarchical oppositions—interior–exterior, upper–lower, and front–back—and thus serve as representational devices for dominant ideologies and social dynamics. In this study, a visual and descriptive analysis method was used. The findings are derived from interpretations of the perceptions, conventions, and experiences of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, highlighting the phenomenon of spatial hierarchy in artistic contexts. Furthermore, the research interrogates a system grounded in the notion of “visibility–invisibility” in cultural life while assessing the intercultural dimension of these architectural motifs. Particular attention is given to their intersections with broader concepts, including East–West cultural exchange, traditional–modern dichotomies, interior–exterior perception, the relationship between architecture and painting, and the manifestation of power. Ultimately, the study contributes to scholarly discourse on intercultural influences arising from encounters, fusions, and conflicts between Eastern and Western traditions, enriching comparative perspectives in art and architectural history.
