A comparative study between a deposited titanium dioxide films by spray pyrolysis technique and Dr. Blade method on to the glass substrates were presented in this study. The first deposition was based on an optimized precursor and the other by a pure material. The resulting films were characterized by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Optical absorption studies of the films were achieved through UV-Visible spectroscopy in the spectral range 300-850 nm. The structural and optical properties of these films were compared. The results indicate that the presence of titanium and oxygen in the film elaborated by spray pyrolysis method led to a deviation in the stoichiometry of TiO2, and the difference in terms of transmittance and the band gap of these thin films which was found to be 3.15 and 1.20 eV for spray pyrolysis and Dr. Blade methods, respectively, make the introduced precursor solutions promising candidates for titanium dioxide development and solar cells applications.
