Özet

Electrochemical degradation and limited long-term surface stability remain critical challenges for cobalt-based alloys exposed to aggressive oral environments. In this study, the influence of electrophoretic deposition (EPD) parameters on the surface chemistry, wettability, mechanical stability, and corrosion behavior of 63S bioactive glass coatings deposited on laser powder bed fusion (LPBF)-fabricated CoCrW alloys was systematically investigated. The results demonstrate that deposition voltage and time strongly influence coating morphology, composition, microstructure, adhesion-related mechanical stability, and electrochemical performance. EPD-derived bioglass coatings exhibited a distinct transition from hydrophobic behavior to dynamic superhydrophilicity, governed by capillary-driven liquid infiltration into the porous coating structure.Electrochemical and scratch test results revealed that performance does not increase monotonically with increasing wettability or coating thickness. Instead, an optimal condition was identified at 12 V for 20 min, where a compact and homogeneous coating exhibited the highest impedance response, superior adhesion-related mechanical stability, and minimal post-corrosion surface degradation, indicating enhanced coating integrity and overall electrochemical performance. These findings indicate that the performance of LPBF-fabricated CoCrW alloys depends on achieving an optimal balance between coating continuity, microstructural integrity, mechanical stability, and controlled electrolyte accessibility rather than simply maximizing coating thickness. Optimized electrophoretic deposition enables the formation of a compact, superhydrophilic bioglass coating with improved electrochemical performance and coating integrity, providing valuable insight into the optimization of bioactive glass coatings for LPBF-fabricated CoCrW alloys.
