The aim of current study is to examine the results of using the argumentation to improve freshman university students' argumentation skills in experiments of the General Chemistry Laboratory-II course. This is a case study which is a descriptive research design. The sample of the study consisted of 47 freshman university students enrolled in Ataturk University in Turkey. The data of the study was collected using verbal and written arguments, written opinion forms and semi-structured observation forms. The researcher used content analysis in the evaluation of the data obtained from written opinions and semi-structured observation forms. The results of this results suggest that freshman university students' level of argumentation is predominantly in the Level 2 (claim-data, claim-warrant or claim-backing).
