The mean atomic number of compounds was measured using their scattered radiation. This method is based on the intensity ratio of the coherently and the incoherently scattered radiation. A standard curve was constructed with known atomic number versus intensity ratio of the coherently and the incoherently scattered radiation. The obtained results were compared with the calculated values.
