An Investigation of the Learning Styles and the Satisfaction Levels of the Distance Education Students

Özet

The aim of this study is to investigate the learning styles and the satisfaction levels of the distance education students and to analyze the relation between the learning styles and the satisfaction levels. Survey method that is one of the quantitative research methods was used in the present study. The participants of the study included 155 students enrolled online bachelor completion degree programs at Ataturk University Distance Education Application and Research Centre. "Kolb Learning Style Inventory Test III" was used in order to examine the learning styles of the distance education students and "Internet-Based Distance Education Student Satisfaction Scale" was used to examine the satisfaction levels of the distance education students. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used in the data analysis. According to the results of this study, the majority of participants have diverging learning style. The students' overall level of satisfaction with the programs about the interactions, the structure of the program and process of it, and the general problems was moderate. These satisfaction levels differ according to the programs in terms of the satisfaction with the structure and the process of the program, and the satisfaction with the interactions. And it was revealed that, the satisfaction levels of the distance education students with the program that they study do not differentiate according to their learning styles.
