Diabetic foot ulcers are one of the most serious complications of diabetes. It has dire consequences for the
patient and the healthcare system. Wound nutrition and immune functions are impaired. Wound healing
process due to polyneuropathy is quite long compared to normal patients. Despite effective treatments, it can
cause tissue or limb loss, even sepsis and death. For deep wounds with necrotic appearance, surgical branches
may decide on amputation in the first evaluation. However, amputation can be prevented with patience and
holistic treatment. In our clinic, many patients who were previously recommended amputation were carefully
treated with a multidisciplinary and holistic treatment approach, and the results were satisfactory. The patients
were evaluated holistically; diet was arranged with patient education, and nutritional support was provided for
blood sugar regulation and wound healing. Protein, vitamins and trace elements, which are the elements of
wound healing, have been replaced; albumin and zinc values were replaced. In order to increase wound
oxygenation, erythrocyte suspension was given to patients with low hemoglobin levels. Patients eligible for
hyperbaric oxygen therapy have been supported by this therapy. Appropriate antimicrobial treatment based on
culture antibiogram was given, and after the wound infection was corrected with wound care, the patient's
transition to the home care process was accelerated with auxiliary treatments that accelerate epithelialization,
vacuum application and grafting. Limb loss is a significant loss for the patient, family and society and should
be the last option whenever possible. Diabetic toenails should be treated patiently and holistically.
