In the present work, bodipy-triazine based novel fluorescent chemosensors (BDTC 1 and BDTC 2) were designed, synthesized and successfully characterized by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, H-1 and C-13 NMR spectroscopies. The photophysical and metal sensing behaviors of bodipy decorated triazines were investigated using UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopies. Bodipy-triazine chemosensors displayed a significant decrease in the fluorescence intensities in the presence of Ag+ ions. The complex stoichiometry of the bodipy-triazines and Ag+ ions were determined as 3:1 (L/M) for BDTC 1 and 2:1 (L/M) for BDTC 2 by fluorescence titrations (Job's plot). The metal sensing experiments have shown that the bodipy decorated triazines have good selectivity for Ag(I). These chemosensors can be proposed to the detection of Ag+ ions in many application areas such as environment and health.
