Özet
This study examines the quality of Turkish Sign Language (TID) research articles published in local and international journals. It is motivated by ongoing discussions about research quality, international publication, and the role of publication context in shaping academic writing practices. Using a comparative corpus design, the study analyzes 23 local and 23 international research articles published between 2020 and 2025. The articles were evaluated using an established research article quality coding framework, with particular attention to the introduction/literature review, methodology, and closing sections. The findings show a recurring difference across the two corpora. International articles displayed more consistent strength in research justification, methodological transparency, and the interpretation of findings, whereas local articles showed greater variation and were more often rated at low or medium levels in these areas. The study contributes to the literature by extending research on publication context and research article quality to the relatively underexplored field of TID studies. Overall, the findings suggest that publication context is associated with differences in how research is framed, developed, and presented.
