The aim of this experimental study is to
determine whether origami-based game technique has an effect on 5th grade
students' attitudes towards geometry. In the study, pre-test post-test, semi-experimental design with paired
control group which is one of the quantitative research methods was used. The
data of the study were collected with the "Geometry Attitude Scale"
in the 2021-2022 academic year. Two 5th grade classes, each consisting of 21
students, from a secondary school in Nusaybin, Mardin were selected as the
study group of the research, one as the experimental and the other as the
control group. While the experimental group was taught through 6 origami-based
activities for 5 weeks, the control group was taught according to the Ministry
of National Education curriculum. Dependent and independent t-tests were
conducted to determine whether the application had a significant effect on
students' geometry attitudes. In conclusion, the lessons taught through the
origami-based game technique were not very effective in changing students'
attitudes when compared to the
lessons taught according to the Ministry of National Education curriculum.
However, there were more changes in the attitude of the origami applied group
compared to the control group.
