Roger Graudy'nin Batı Medeniyeti ile Yüzleşmesi

Roger Garaudy, Doğu Batı medeniyetleri muhasebesi ve diyaloğu denildiğinde akla gelen en önemli çağdaş düşünürlerden biridir. Fransa’da devlet adamı olarak üst düzey görevler üstlenmiştir. Fransız Komünist partisinde etkin rol almış, bu vesileyle dünyanın pek çok ülkesinde bulunmuştur. Sorbonne Üniversitesinde aldığı eğitimle Batı Medeniyetinin tarihsel birikimini ayrıntılarıyla tanıma fırsatı edinmiştir. Askerlik vazifesi ve savaş yıllarında Batı dışı medeniyetlere ilişkin gözlem ve değerlendirmelerde bulunma fırsatı elde etmiştir. Afrika tecrübesi, Batı Medeniyeti ile Doğu arasında karşılaştırma yapabilme imkânı edinmiştir. Gençlik yıllarından beri insanlığın refah ve mutluluğu yolunda hedefler belirleyip sorumluluk üstlenmesi mücadelelerle dolu bir hayat sürmesini sağlamıştır. Hayatının son demlerinde gayesini gerçekleştirme adına İslâm’ı seçmiştir. Bu bağlamda Garaudy, ömrü boyunca; hakların üstünlüğüne değil emeğin sömürüsüne, adalete değil rekabete, barışseverliğe değil kapitalizme, sömürüye ve maddiyata dayalı olan Batı’nın siyaset ve ahlakî yaklaşımıyla hesaplaşmayı seçmiştir. Garaudy, Batı’nın kendi egoizminden vazgeçip diğer medeniyetlerle gerçekleştireceği sağlıklı bir diyaloğun, insanlığın geleceğini toplu bir intihardan kurtaracak yegâne çözüm olduğunu benimsemiştir. İslâm’ın, diğer kültür ve medeniyetlere göre sahip olduğu İlahî ve beşerî kazanımların insanlığın kurtuluşunda önemine dikkat çekmiştir. Yeryüzünde birlik, adalet, barış ve sevginin hâkim olacağı bir düzen için mücadele etmiş ve geriye bu düşüncelerini içinde topladığı pek çok eserini miras bırakmıştır.

Roger Garaudy is one of the most important contemporary thinkers that comes to mind when it comes to the accounting and dialogue of East and West civilizations. He held high-level positions as a statesman in France. He took an active role in the French Communist Party, and during this role he was found in many countries of the world. With the education he received at Sorbonne University, he had the opportunity to get to know the historical accumulation of Western Civilization in detail. During his military service and war years, he had the opportunity to make observations and evaluations about non-Western civilizations. His Africa experience has given him the opportunity to make comparisons between Western Civilization and the East. The fact that he has set goals and assumed responsibility for the welfare and happiness of humanity since his youth has led to a life full of struggles. In his last days, he chose Islam in order to realize his goal. In this context, Garaudy throughout his life; based not on the rule of rights but on the exploitation of labor, not on justice but on competition and not on pacifism but on capitalism, exploitation and materialism; He chose to settle accounts with the political and moral approach of the West. Garaudy has adopted as the only solution that will save the future of humanity from a mass suicide, that the West will give up its own egoism and have a healthy dialogue with other civilizations. He drew attention to the importance of the divine and human achievements of Islam compared to other cultures and civilizations in the salvation of humanity. He fought for an order in which unity, justice, peace and love would prevail on earth, and he left behind many of his works in which he collected these thoughts.
