The regularity of particle and gas (NO,CO) emissions in the combustion of Turkish Agach and Soma lignite have been studied. The influence of moisture (0-39.4%) and particle size (-10/+60 mm) of lignite on the emission kinetics of particles and gases have been established. It has been shown that there is a significant dependence of particles and CO emissions on moisture in lignite and that there was a maximum emission related to 50-80% of moisture in the original samples. Under these conditions, the concentration of particles in smoke gas is 78.5 mg/m(3) for Agacli lignite and 54.5 mg/m(3) for Soma lignite. It is shown that the majority (about 60 %) of particles are emitted at the initial stage of combustion, that is about 25 % of complete combustion time of the lignite samples. The size of lignite samples also has an impact on particle emission. When the sample size is decreased from +35 to -10 mm, particle emission increased about five-fold due to the transfer of small particles of carbon by smoke gases. The mechanism of moisture influence on particle and gas emissions is discussed in the framework of the regularity of the distribution of water molecules on the porous structure of lignite organic mass.
