Özet

Günümüzde post-truth kavramı etrafında bir tartışma entelektüel gündemi fazlasıyla meşgul etmektedir. Felsefi anlamda Nietzsche ile başlatılan ve 1968 sonrası postmodern ajanda ile hakikatin kurmacayla yer değiştirdiği bir durumu imlemek için yaygın biçimde kullanılan post-truth kavramı, çağımızdaki temel tartışma odaklarından biri olarak görünüyor. Bu çalışma, Samuel Beckett’ın önemli tiyatro eseri Godot’yu Beklerken’i bu post-truth tartışmasıyla ilişkilendirmek amacındadır. Beckett’ın Godot’yu Beklerken adlı oyununu post-truth bir okuma ile ele almak gelenekselleşmiş varoluşçu Beckett okumalarından farklı imkânlar sunar. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın ilk kısmında bir giriş olarak Beckett’ın felsefe ile olan bağına ve felsefenin gündemindeki yeniden okuma stratejilerine değinilmiştir. Çalışmanın ikinci kısmında Godot’yu Beklerken oyunu genel olarak değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Son olarak üçüncü kısmında ise genel itibariyle post-truth kavramı incelendikten sonra Godot’yu Beklerken’deki post-truth bağlamlı okunabilecek ögelere dikkat çekilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Today, a discussion around the concept of post-truth occupies the intellectual agenda exceedingly. In a philosophical sense, the concept of post-truth, which was initiated with Nietzsche and is widely used after 1968 to signify a situation in which the postmodern agenda and truth were replaced by fiction, seems to be one of the main focus of discussion in our age. This study aims to relate Samuel Beckett's important play, Waiting for Godot, with this post-truth discussion. Addressing Beckett's play Waiting for Godot with a post-truth reading offers different possibilities than the traditional existentialist Beckett readings. In this context, in the first part of the study, Beckett's connection with philosophy and re-reading strategies on the agenda of philosophy are mentioned as an introduction. In the second part of the study, the play Waiting for Godot was tried to be evaluated in general. Finally, in the third part, after examining the concept of Post-truth in general, it was tried to draw attention to the elements that can be read in a post-truth context in Waiting for Godot.
