Grewia asiatica L. is among the least-researched eatable fruit-bearing medicinal plants having nutritional value besides its medicinal importance. In the current study, Grewia asiatica seeds have been systematically analyzed for chemical composition. Mineral analysis of seeds indicates that potassium, calcium, phosphorus, copper, zinc, and magnesium are present in sufficient amounts to meet the macronutrient and micronutrient demand in human diets. Unsaturated fatty acids were detected as main fatty acids. Tocopherol profile indicated alpha-tocopherol as major tocopherol while beta-sitosterol was the highest sterol observed. These data will allow nutrition professionals to evaluate the role of this plant in human nutrition.
