Introduction: Peg-shaped
lateral incisors, which cause aesthetic
disorders and diastema in the anterior teeth, exhibit a
smaller and shorter clinical crown appearance than usual. For
this reason, the treatment should be in the form of restoration
of narrowed crown sizes and closure of diastemas. In this
case report, it was aimed to explain the aesthetic restoration
of the peg-shaped
lateral tooth with a strip crown.
Case Report: A 14-year-
old
girl reported to our clinic with a
complaint related to deformity of the maxillary lateral tooth.
Clinical and radiological assessments showed that Maxillary
lateral incisor is peg shaped with healthy peridontium and no
caries were detected. The patient’s tooth was restored with
composite resin using a single session strip crown.
Discussion: Dental anomalies; due to problems with teeth,
cavities and alignment that have an unnatural appearance,
usually cause significant aesthetic problems. In the process of
giving aesthetic appearance to healthy teeth that exhibit disfigurement,
especially minimally invasive techniques should
be used.
Conclusion: In solving aesthetic problems caused by dental
anomalies in young patients, strip crowns may be preferred
due to the fact that they receive immediate aesthetic results
and their cost is low.
