The objective of the study is to investigate relationship between financial
performance and financial structure of commercial banks operating in Turkey.
In this context, using 1998-2015 period of trimester financial statement of 22
commercial banks, relationship between financial performance criteria of
banks and financial structure components is studied with panel data analysis.
In this study, return on assets, return on equity and net interest margin are
dependent variables. Deposits, non-deposit liabilities, equity, other liabilities,
size of assets, Z-Score and Crisis are independent variables. According to the
results, equity affects bank profitability more than others in a negative way.
