Splints have been defined as devices to stabilize and prevent the motion of fractured or movable parts. Stabilization may provide a good prognosis for the teeth lacking periodontal support, by removing of excessive occlusal forces on teeth, creating a balanced occlusion, and neutralizing occlusal forces. For this reason; the teeth whose periodontium has been damaged can be stabilized by uni-or bilateral fixation of these teeth to to healthy adjacent teeth This article shows a clinical rationale for tooth stabilization and splinting.
