To analyse the systems working with solar energy, it is required that values of the solar radiation belonging to the region have been known. In this study, it is investigated whether some modified Angstrom-type equations related to sunshine hours will be used to estimate of monthly average daily global solar radiation at Erzurum. Also, a third-order equation is developed for the calculation of the monthly average daily global solar radiation at Erzurum. The main bias error (MBE), the root mean square error (RMSE), and the t-statistic methods were used for evaluating the performance of the equations. The most suitable equation is found by compared with the values measured and obtained from the equation.
