Özet

This chapter explores the concept of cultural intelligence (CQ) and its implications in organisational, individual, and leadership contexts. It begins with an in-depth discussion of the four core components, metacognitive, cognitive, motivational, and behavioural, integrated into a holistic framework. Strategies for developing CQ are then examined at both individual and organisational levels, emphasising learning, experiential engagement, open-mindedness, and reflective practices. The chapter further investigates the role of CQ in conflict management and mediation, highlighting culture as a source of conflict and the potential of CQ in de-escalation, facilitation, and prevention. The complementary relationship between cultural intelligence and emotional intelligence (EQ) is addressed, focusing on their intersections across competency domains and their mutual reinforcement in practice. Finally, the necessity of CQ in global leadership is explored, outlining its contributions to leadership practices and the value of CQ-based training in leadership development. By integrating these perspectives, the chapter demonstrates that cultural intelligence is a critical competence for effective communication, collaboration, and leadership in an increasingly globalised world.
