Özet

The aim of this study is to assess the teachers' digital literacy level for effective education in the current digital era. In this direction, the teachers' digital literacy levels were examined according to gender and professional seniority. In this study, the survey method was used. 658 teachers from different branches and provinces who worked in the Ministry of Education in Türkiye participated in the study. Personal information form, and digital literacy scale were used as data collection tools. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was determined that the teachers' digital literacy levels were below average/poor. Teachers' total digital literacy levels did not show significant differences according to gender and professional seniority in total points of digital literacy. However, some significant differences according to sub-dimensions of the scale were found. In the General Knowledge and Functions sub-dimension of the scale, a significant difference was found at a medium effect size in favor of male teachers. In the Professional Production sub-dimension of the scale, it was found that teachers with 11-15 years of professional experience differed significantly and with a high effect size from teachers with 16 years of professional experience and above. As a result of the study, teachers should be supported by necessary training to increase their digital literacy levels based on their needs.
