Özet

Efficient and cost-effective catalysts are more important than ever to meet increasing energy demand. Herein, Ni-doped LiFePO4 series (LiFe1-xNixPO4, x = 0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.20) was synthesized and proven as effective materials for water electrolysis, with an average crystallite size (Dav) of nearly 15.16 nm for LFP4 with 20% Ni content. All the LFPs demonstrate better electrocatalytic activity towards HER/OER; ƞ10 ranges from 440 to 380 mV, TS from 69 to 97 mV dec−1, Rct from 9.27 to 23.39 Ω for OER and for HER ƞ10 ranges from 580 to 470 mV, TS from 115 to 173 mV dec−1, Rct from 22.69 to 27.42 Ω. Among all, LFP4 with 20% Ni content proved to be the optimal composition with lower TS, ƞ10, and Ea (380 mV, 69 mV dec−1, 12.96 kJ mol−1) for OER and HER (470 mV, 115 mV dec−1, 11.25 kJ mol−1), respectively. ECSA increased with Ni doping and varied from 4.05 cm2 (LFP1) to 16.30 cm2 (LFP4), doping strengthens the P-O and M-O bonds, making it structurally stable and more efficient. Furthermore, the temperature-dependent LSV highlights its importance for commercial electrolyzers and other electrochemical applications.
