The vacancy transfer probabilities of K to L-1, L-2 and L-3 shells were measured using a new approach. Those measuring L X-ray yields from targets excited by 59.5-keV incident photons above the K edge of elements were detected with a high-resolution Si(Li)-detector. For comparison with experimental results, using available data on radiative and radiationless transitions theoretical calculations were made. The radiative transitions of these elements were observed from the relativistic Hartree-Slater model. The radiationless transitions were observed from the Dirac-Hartree-Slater model. The measured results were found to be in good agreement with theoretical values. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
