The title compound, C18H22N2O3, consists of a tetracyclic ring system containing an azocino skeleton with a dimethoxyethyl group as a substituent. The benzene and five-membered rings are nearly coplanar, with a dihedral angle of 1.26 (8)degrees. In the crystal structure, intermolecular N-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds link the molecules into chains parallel to the b axis.
